Discovery
Science Center, Santa Ana, CA
Christopher Townsend secured more than $23 Million in state and federal
funding for the Taco Bell Discovery Science Center. In March of 1998,
he arranged for Vice President Al Gore to join with a bipartisan coalition
of Orange County elected officials to celebrate the groundbreaking of
the facility. The Center then opened in December of the same year, and
is Orange County's largest nonprofit educational facility. The Center
and its staff has since been dedicated to educating its 300,000 annual
children, teachers, and adult visitors in the fields of science, math,
and technology. Discovery Science Center is home to more than 120 interactive
exhibits, and is ideally located just off the I-5 freeway with 108 feet
solar cube and 85 feet Delta II Rocket that welcomes visitors. Click here

The
Oakland Fox Theater, Oakland, CA
In
1996, the City of Oakland's Community and Economic Development Agency
purchased and began restoring the Oakland Fox Theater thanks to the more
than $9.5 Million in funding secured by Townsend Public Affairs. The Oakland
Fox Theater is a historic movie palace that was in operation from 1928
to 1962. Since its restoration, it now serves as a popular performing
arts center for the City of Oakland. The multi-phase restoration process
included a new roof, which was installed in 2000, and renovation of the
spectacular historic marquee/neon sign in 2001. The renovation has not
stopped there and the City continues to improve the historical landmark.
As for the theater's architecture both inside and outside, it is uniquely
composed of a mixture of Indian, Morrish, Medieval, and Baghdadian. Click

Museum
of Latin American Art, Long Beach, CA
Townsend
Public Affairs secured more than $3.6 Million for the expansion and remodel
of the Museum of Latin American Art founded in November 1996 by Dr. Robert
Gumbiner. Today it is the only museum in the western United States that
exclusively features contemporary Latin American Art. Through the utilization
of its permanent collection of over 75 works, traveling exhibitions and
programs, the Museum educates a diverse Southern California audience.
Individually and collectively, the Museum's works contain a history of
events in time and is a cross fertilization of forms and techniques prevalent
in the world's rapidly changing society. Click here to visit the Museum
