City of Fontana Secures $19,808,989

Jan 05, 2024

Congratulations to the City of Fontana, for successfully securing a grant award in the amount of $19,808,986 from the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation to increase road safety and protect its community.

The funding will support Fontana’s Foothill Boulevard Safety Improvement Project, which will significantly enhance the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists traveling throughout the City. Over the past six years, the intersection has witnessed eight fatalities, compelling the City to prioritize comprehensive and targeted safety improvements in the area.

The project includes the construction of almost two miles of buffered bike lanes, one-and-a-half miles of ADA-compliant sidewalks, over a dozen ADA-compliant ramps, street lighting, a landscaped median, traffic signals, and signage. The funding will address a critical gap in the City’s transportation infrastructure and will greatly reduce collisions involving cars, bicycles, and pedestrians.

This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of the City to enrich the lives of those who live, work, play, and invest in its community.

Once again, congratulations Fontana, on this major achievement!

County of Mariposa Secures $7,800,000

Jan 01, 2024

Congratulations to Mariposa County for successfully securing a grant award in the amount of $7,800,000 through the Local Transportation Climate Adaptation Program administered by the California Transportation Commission to make significant upgrades to Fournier Road that will improve road accessibility and safety for residents and visitors.

Fournier Road, which is currently only one of two creek crossings for County residents living in affordable housing, has flooded three times this winter, leaving residents stranded and without access to critical resources, including medical care and food. This grant funding will support the County’s efforts to install a new bridge and make much-needed improvements to Fournier Road in order to ensure current and future residents will always be accessible to emergency personnel and other supportive services. Additionally, the project will increase community connectivity and encourage further housing and economic development throughout Mariposa County.

This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of the County to foster a thriving, scenic, historic and culturally vibrant rural community where residents, businesses and visitors enjoy opportunity, security, engagement, prosperity and wellness.

Once again, congratulations Mariposa County!
