TPA Presents at California Park & Recreation Society Conference

TPA was honored to present at the California Park & Recreation Society Director’s Academy in San Luis Obispo earlier this month! TPA Grants Manager Alex Gibbs presented alongside Emeline Noda, Director of Recreation and Community Services for the City of Los Alamitos, on best practices to secure grants and legislative-directed spending funds for park and recreation projects in California.

City of Palo Alto Secures $5,176,812

Congratulations to the City of Palo Alto for successfully securing a grant in the amount of $5,176,812 through the Organized Retail Theft Prevention Grant Program administered by the Board of State & Community Corrections to combat organized retail theft and protect its community.

The funding will enable the Palo Alto Police Department to staff extra patrols throughout high-density retail areas for the next several years in order to deter crime. These strategic and critical efforts will significantly increase public safety and community well-being.

This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of the City to promote and sustain a high quality of life in Palo Alto.

City of Palmdale Secures $793,170

Congratulations to the City of Palmdale for successfully securing a grant in the amount of $793,170 from the Tobacco Grant Program administered by the U.S. Department of Justice to help mitigate the negative impacts of tobacco use in its community.

This grant award will fund tobacco retailer enforcement efforts throughout Palmdale to include retailer inspections, identification and targeting of problematic retailers, and enforcement operations. The funding will also be used to purchase and install tobacco signage. These critical initiatives will help decrease tobacco use throughout the City and support overall community health and well-being.

This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of the City to enhance residents’ quality of life through innovation, passion, engagement, and collaboration.

City of Monterey Park Secures $1,400,000

Congratulations to the City of Monterey Park, for successfully securing a grant award in the amount of $1,400,000 through the Building Forward Library Infrastructure Grant Program administered by the California State Library for improvements to the City’s Bruggemeyer Library.

The funding will go towards furnishing the City library with a backup generator to ensure it is able to function as a backup Emergency Operations Center. Additionally, funding will enable the library to update outdated HVAC units and address accessibility concerns throughout the building. These critical infrastructure needs will allow the library to continue to serve the community and work towards its strategic goals of inclusion, accessibility, literacy, and connection as a community builder.

This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of the City to provide excellent services to enhance the quality of life for its entire community.

TJPA Secures $60,000,000

Congratulations to the Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) for securing a grant in the amount of $60,000,000 through the Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP) administered by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) to fund the Downtown Rail Extension Project Development.

This significant funding will advance the final design for the Downtown Rail Extension (DTX) and will position the project to advance its engineering work. Once constructed, the project will extend Caltrain’s existing end by approximately two miles into downtown San Francisco, which will connect two new stations and fill critical last mile gaps for commuters and travelers throughout the Bay Area and California.

This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of the TJPA to be a leader in transportation, inspire civic pride and progress, and foster new transit-oriented neighborhoods.
