Transbay Joint Powers Authority Opens Salesforce Transit Center

Sep 06, 2018

Townsend Public Affairs was honored to recently attend the grand opening of the Salesforce Transit Center in downtown San Francisco.

This long-awaited transit center will support eleven transportation systems and serve as the City’s new landmark, featuring a 5.4-acre rooftop park.

The center was developed and sponsored by Transbay Joint Powers Authority (a TPA client), a joint powers authority created by the City and County of San Francisco, the Alameda-Contra Costa County Transit District, the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, the California High Speed Rail Authority, and Caltrans.

This monumental achievement is a testament to the vision TJPA, under the leadership of Board Chair Mohammed Nuru, Board Vice Chair Jeff Gee, Board Members Greg Harper, Jane Kim, Edward Reiskin, Bruce Armistead, Nadia Sesay, James Davis, and Executive Director Mark Zabaneh, to develop a transportation gateway that inspires civic pride and progress through world-class architecture, superb functionality, and timeless appeal.

TPA President Christopher Townsend attended the event with TPA Northern California Senior Director Niccolo De Luca and TPA Central California Senior Director Richard Harmon. Other participates at the event included Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, California State Senator Nancy Skinner, and Assembly Members Rob Bonta, Ash Kalra, David Chiu, and Phil Ting.

Congratulations, Transbay Joint Powers Authority!
