AB 370 (Carrillo) Moves to Senate Appropriations Committee
TPA is pleased to announce that legislation sponsored by our client, the City of Hesperia, has passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee! AB 370, authored by Assemblymember Juan Carrillo (D – Palmdale), will provide local governments with additional flexibility in responding to a Public Records Act Request when they experience a cyberattack.
“To respond to a PRA request to the fullest extent possible, AB 370 affords the City much needed flexibility when we cannot access servers and systems,” said Hesperia Mayor Allison Lee. “When under a cyberattack, local services and functions are disrupted, requiring swift response from the City to restore access, communications, and operations. Cyberattacks place significant strain on an agency’s IT infrastructure and staff, and this bill would allow agencies to focus on mitigating the attack and stabilizing systems so the City can be fully operational.”
At TPA, we are committed to assisting local governments become more resilient and offer a strong voice in advocating for policies that support their communities.
AB 370 passed on consent and now heads to the Senate Appropriations Committee. The bill has enjoyed support from partners like the League of California Cities, California Special Districts Association, California State Association of Counties, Rural County Representatives of California, and the City of Chino Hills.
