City of Fontana Secures $19,808,989

Congratulations to the City of Fontana, for successfully securing a grant award in the amount of $19,808,986 from the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation to increase road safety and protect its community.

The funding will support Fontana’s Foothill Boulevard Safety Improvement Project, which will significantly enhance the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists traveling throughout the City. Over the past six years, the intersection has witnessed eight fatalities, compelling the City to prioritize comprehensive and targeted safety improvements in the area.

The project includes the construction of almost two miles of buffered bike lanes, one-and-a-half miles of ADA-compliant sidewalks, over a dozen ADA-compliant ramps, street lighting, a landscaped median, traffic signals, and signage. The funding will address a critical gap in the City’s transportation infrastructure and will greatly reduce collisions involving cars, bicycles, and pedestrians.

This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of the City to enrich the lives of those who live, work, play, and invest in its community.

Once again, congratulations Fontana, on this major achievement!
