Sacramento Regional Transit District Secures $76,847,678

Working alongside SacRT, TPA has helped secure $76,847,678 in competitive funding from the Low or No Emissions Grant Program administered by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). This significant funding, which is the third highest award in this major grant category across the nation, will enable SacRT to acquire 29 hydrogen fuel cell buses, modernize their bus maintenance facility at McClellan Business Park, and launch a comprehensive workforce development program. This initiative is a critical step towards SacRT’s goal of converting its entire bus fleet to zero emissions by 2040, improving air quality and service reliability in Sacramento.

Additionally, SacRT has secured local funding, bringing the total project amount to approximately $102 million. This project will lead to the construction of the first hydrogen fueling facility in the capital region, benefiting disadvantaged communities in northern Sacramento by 2028.

A huge congratulations to the SacRT team for their dedication and hard work. We would also like to thank TPA Director Eric Thronson for all of his hard work on this project! We are honored to support SacRT in its mission to be a leader in California mobility.
