TPA Federal Director James Peterson Joins National Monuments Celebration

Congratulations to TPA Federal Director James Peterson, who served as one of the speakers in a celebration of the three new national monuments designated by President Obama earlier this year: Mojave Trails, Sand to Snow, and Castle Mountain.

Prior to joining TPA, James served as a longtime aide to U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein and led her effort to establish the three new monuments. On February 12, President Obama signed three proclamations establishing the monuments, covering 1.8 million acres, nearly doubling the number of acres of public lands protected during his time in office.

Peterson joined U.S. Department of the Interior Secretary Sally Jewell,Congressman Raul Ruiz, MD, California Natural Resources Agency Secretary John Laird, San Bernardino County Supervisor James Ramos, The Wildlands Conservancy Executive Director David Myers, and hundreds of monument supporters at Whitewater Preserve located in the Sand to Snow National Monument.
