Discovery Science Center, Santa Ana, CA

Christopher Townsend secured more than $39 Million in state and federal funding for the Taco Bell Discovery Science Center. In March of 1998, he arranged for Vice President Al Gore to join with a bipartisan coalition of Orange County elected officials to celebrate the groundbreaking of the facility. The Center then opened in December of the same year, and is Orange County’s largest nonprofit educational facility. The Center and its staff has since been dedicated to educating its 300,000 annual children, teachers, and adult visitors in the fields of science, math, and technology. Discovery Science Center is home to more than 120 interactive exhibits, and is ideally located just off the I-5 freeway with 108 feet solar cube and 85 feet Delta II Rocket that welcomes visitors.
