County of Kern Awarded $17,021,560 to Establish Youth Crisis Walk-In Center Facility

Aug 04, 2023

Congratulations to the County of Kern for successfully securing a grant in the amount of $17,021,560 through the Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Grant Program administered by the California Department of Health Care Services to establish a youth crisis walk-in center facility.

This funding will allow the Kern Behavioral Health & Recovery Services to meet the needs of vulnerable populations, including those experiencing homelessness and justice involvement. It will also enable the County to expand its capacity to provide alternatives to incarceration, hospitalization, homelessness, and institutionalization. These efforts will be crucial to the promotion and protection of community safety and welfare, especially for at-risk youth populations.

This latest achievement is another example of the commitment of the County to exceed the expectations of the communities it serves and be a regional leader in ideas, energy, and innovation.

Once again, congratulations Kern County!
